I am Markus Zeilinger, Head of the Competence Center for Preclinical Imaging and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. With my in-depth experience in clinical and preclinical medical imaging sciences, biomedical image data processing computational methods in medicine, radiobiology and preclinical animal sciences I am responsible for research, teaching and all relevant aspects related to animal experiments in this area at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt. Additionally, I am heading the Master study program “MedTech – Functional Imaging, Conventional and Ion Radiotherapy” since 2016, as well as the Master course “Sonography” and the Bachelor study program “Radiological Technology” at the Faculty of Health at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt since 2021. My main research focus is dedicated to develop, evaluate and validate multimodal morphological, functional and molecular medical imaging tools and techniques for biologic adaptive radiation therapy and cancer research.
Within PAIR cutting-edge research in the fields of radiation physics, ion beam therapy, cancer biology, medical imaging sciences and bioinformatics will be merged and therefore provides an excellent accelerator for an outstanding, unique and high quality educational program. I truly believe, that PAIR will foster a better understanding of imaging regional and systemic tumor(patho)physiological processes and its response to different ion beam treatment regimes and will significantly.
