Project nº 5 – Harnessing Particle Radiation and Small Molecule Inhibitors in Pancreatic Cancer

I did my degree in Applied Biology at Minho University in Braga, Portugal and my master in Molecular Genetics at the same university having developed my master thesis at the Institute Jacques Monod, in Paris, France. In September of 2022 I moved to Vienna for my PhD joining the PAIR team as project number 5.

Understanding cell signalling and its regulation mechanisms in major biological processes, has always been one of my major research interests. In cancer development, comprehensive knowledge on how we can trigger cells to activate an immune response is crucial for successfully developing targeted treatment strategies. Pancreatic cancer being one of the deadliest cancer types worldwide, urgently asks for more effective therapies and therefore, the main goal of my project is to combine particle radiation and small molecule inhibitors to try to enhance anti-tumour immune response in pancreatic cancer.
