Sebastian Pichler

PhD student at the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna

I am Sebastian Pichler, a PhD student at the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna. Since 2022, I have been working as a PhD student on the novel interdisciplinary PAIR project.

The goal of my project, which started in Summer 2022, is to identify new DNA damage-induced signaling pathways that are activated in response to the different types of radiation (X-ray, proton, and carbon ion) in pancreatic cancer cells and to characterize proteins that are secreted by these cells. This will contribute to a better understanding of cellular responses to radiation therapy and might help improve therapeutic strategies.

My previous work experience in leukemia research in Hong Kong and protein research at the pharma company Biomin Holding GmbH has helped me greatly. Together with my colleagues from the PAIR project and the University of Veterinary Medicine Vienna, I am well prepared to face the challenges ahead.
